About Us

Hana Barber
Founder
Music has long been a source of healing – whether through singing with friends around a bonfire, the memory of a familiar melody, or the quiet comfort of a song at the end of a long day. Its impact is universal, understood across all ages and experiences.
I began performing on the piano in nursing homes at four years old, witnessing firsthand the impact music has – especially on the elderly. As I grew older, I felt called to use music more intentionally to support those most in need, especially individuals in memory care and Alzheimer’s communities.
In high school, my friends and I furthered this commitment by volunteering regularly in nursing care facilities, using music and genuine interaction to spark joy and connection. Truly, something as seemingly innocent and fragile as a melody could brighten someone’s day. The realization that music is a gift to be shared, and that in doing so we make this world a better place, is powerful. It is this passion that led to the founding of Melodies for Memphis.
Our organization continues to expand and flourish as students of all ages uplift this mission, underscoring the power of community and, of course, the touching beauty of music.
I invite you to join us and, together, we can make Melodies for Memphis!
Yours truly,
Hana
